“Juneteenth in breath and body” with People’s Light (moved to library)

“Juneteenth in breath and body” with People’s Light (moved to library) In-Person

NOTE!  Program will be held in the library - doors open at 6:30pm:

People’s Light teaching artist and theatre maker Monet Debose will guide families to move their bodies, lift their voices, and express strength as we commemorate Juneteenth. Using poetry by Black writers, combined with simple elements of expressive movement and African dance, participants will explore imagery and emotion around the ideas of freedom, pride, and legacy. Bring the whole family!

Monet Debose is a recent graduate from Bryn Mawr College where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Theater. Her early career started at People’s Light Theater where she worked as an Artistic Intern working in theater education with youth from ages 7 to 13. She continues to teach theater in early childhood education as she is a Teaching Artist at Settlement Music School and People's Light Theater. She is also a working actress in Philadelphia with work done with Azuka Theatre (White Ally) and an upcoming performance with the University of Pennsylvania (from).
