Meet the King and Queen Oaks at Springton Manor, A Longwood Gardens “Community Read” Program

Meet the King and Queen Oaks at Springton Manor, A Longwood Gardens “Community Read” Program In-Person

We call them "the king and queen". They rule over the manor, Springton Manor Farm. Providing beauty, shade and food for people and animals alike these “Champion Trees” have been growing for over two centuries. Standing at over 70 feet and being 17 feet around, our White oaks, Quercus alba, are the largest in the park.  Join us in a ranger lead discussion about “their majesties” and enjoy their gifts.

This program is to be held on site at Springton Manor Farm in Glenmoore. Park at the lower lot. The King and Queen Oaks are visible from that parking lot.

Hosted by the Chester County Library, Chester County Parks and Preservation and the Friends of Springton Manor, this is a Longwood Gardens “Community Read” program. “The Songs of Trees” by David George Haskell, was selected by Longwood Gardens for their annual “Community Read “, a program designed to “bring books and people together and spur a discussion around an important topic or idea.” This year we explore trees and their connections; to each other, to their environment and to humans.

A limited number of One Day Passes for 4 to Longwood Gardens will be given away at this event.
