Shinrin-Yoku, Forest Bathing: A Longwood Garden "Community Read " Program

Shinrin-Yoku, Forest Bathing: A Longwood Garden "Community Read " Program In-Person

Hosted by the Chester County Library and Chester County Parks and Preservation, this is a Longwood Gardens “Community Read” program. “The Songs of Trees” by David George Haskell, was selected by Longwood Gardens for their annual “Community Read “, a program designed to “bring books and people together and spur a discussion around an important topic or idea.” This year we explore trees and their connections; to each other, to their environment and to humans.

Join Heather Marquette ERYT500, YACP, PRYT, IAYT, Reiki Master, owner of 2 Crows and a Raven Yoga Therapy LLC, for an adventure into Shinrin- Yoku, Forest Bathing at Hibernia County Park, Saturday, May 14, 2022, (rain date May 21) 4pm to 6pm.   Plan to meet at Fiddler's Field stage area.

Originating in Japan, Shinrin- Yoku means bathing in the forest atmosphere. Take in the forest.  Connect to nature using all of your senses; sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. Meditate with stationary balance postures and breath-work. Walk in the beauty of the forest, surrounded by trees, prompted with a variety of intentions. Journal your feelings and observations with words or drawings. A discussion around a campfire will follow to share our insights and thoughts about ourselves and our connections to nature and the trees that surround us. Taste a variety of food snacks provided to us by trees.

This program is open to adults and teens. Please bring a blanket or yoga mat.

A limited number of One Day Passes for 4 to Longwood Gardens will be given away at this event.
