Project Family Astro: Moon Mission

Project Family Astro: Moon Mission In-Person

Are you ready for a fun and educational family adventure to the moon? Have you ever wondered why the Moon changes shape during the month?  Have you seen the Moon in the daytime sky?  And what causes eclipses anyway?  For the answers to these questions and more, join Dr. Karen Schwarz, from West Chester University’s Mather Planetarium, for an afternoon of learning and fun!  Participants will be lead through an interactive lesson about the phases of the Moon.  Afterwards, families will play the collaborative game “Moon Mission”, where they will race against time in an effort to retrieve damaged instruments scattered across the lunar landscape. Players must work together to accomplish their mission and get everyone safely back to Grimaldi Moon Base before the long lunar night falls. Success depends on players developing a joint strategy, understanding conditions on the Moon, and a bit of luck.

Registration is required. Registration will close 2 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the event.
