Diwali: the Festival of Lights

Diwali: the Festival of Lights Online

Diwali is a festival celebrated by many in our community.  Join us with guest speaker, Preetha Kesari, as she explains the meaning of the holiday and how it is celebrated in India and around the world.  The presentation will end with a demonstration of a traditional technique for decorating a diya (an oil lamp made from clay).  Undecorated diyas, made by Preetha through her charitable organization Supreeti Creations, will be available for pick up at the library in the week preceeding the event while supplies last.  Included with the diya will be acrylic paint, a paint brush and copies of diya designs as a resource for the budding artists to build on as they decorate their very own diyas.

Registration is required. Registration will close 2 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the event. A Zoom link will be emailed to registrants 2 hours before the program starts.  Make sure to check the email address you registered with to receive the link.  You do not need a Zoom account to attend the virtual program.
