Join other adult participants of the 2021 Read Woke with TTL Challenge to discuss books you've read for the month. During the monthly round-up discussions get ideas of books to read for the challenge and discuss how you are approaching the challenge.
All adults are welcome to join, even if you're not signed up to participate in the challenge. A brief introduction will be provided at the beginning of the discussion for anyone interested in learning more about this year long reading experience.

More about the 2021 Woke Challenge:
The goal of the 2021 Read Woke Challenge is to encourage readers of all ages to read diverse and inclusive books, to broaden your knowledge by reading books written by and about underrepresented and oppressed groups. Tredyffrin Township Libraries challenges you to take 2021 to learn about others, to become a stronger ally, and listen to all voices.
A note from Cicely Lewis, the creator of the Woke Challenge:
“Read Woke is a movement. It is a feeling. It is a style. It is a form of education. It is a call to action; it is our right as lifelong learners. It means arming yourself with knowledge in order to better protect your rights. Knowledge is power and no one can take it away. It means learning about others so that you can treat people with the respect and dignity that they deserve no matter their religion, race, creed, or color.”
Cicely Lewis concludes that a Woke Book must:
- Challenge a social norm
- Give voice to the voiceless
- Provide information about a group that has been disenfranchised
- Seek to challenge the status quo
- Have a protagonist from an underrepresented or oppressed group
