The Kelpies Irish Traditional Music In-Person
An afternoon of Irish traditional music by Philly-based fiddle/guitar duo, The Kelpies, with instrument show-and-tell, educational tidbits between tunes about musical forms, historical significance and regional styles. They hope to share their love of traditional music through jigs and reels, and to inspire new and familiar audiences to explore this rich musical culture. Irish dancers welcome!
The Kelpies are a West Philadelphia-based fiddle-and-guitar duo performing authentic Irish traditional music with modern style. Fiddler Melissa Lisbao and guitarist Alec Charon bring together their unique backgrounds as trained classical and jazz musicians to explore new tensions and timbres with the trad idiom. They are both degreed, full-time musicians, and professional teachers on their respective instruments. They are in-demand, rising stars in the Greater Philadelphia Irish trad scene.
