Open Hours in the Children's Makerspace In-Person
Our team is pleased to offer Open Hours this summer in the Children’s Makerspace. Each week, the Children’s Makerspace will host a different theme for patrons to explore – no registration required, just stop by!
Tuesday through Friday 10am to 5pm
Saturday ALL DAY
August 4-8 - Block Printing
This week, we will learn the art of block printing and stamp making. Kids will use various carving tools to create designs in soft linoleum blocks or Styrofoam and transfer the ink from the blocks onto paper.
August 11-15 - Makey Makey Video Games
Using our Makey Makey kits and Scratch, kids will create game controllers and learn about coding, conductivity, and game design.
August 18-22 - Indi Robot Exploration
Code our Indi Robot cars with colored tiles. Solve puzzles and mazes and create your own tracks for Indi to drive!
August 25-29 - Stop Motion Animation
This week, students will create and tell a story using stop motion animation. Starting with a storyboard, kids will design their own sets and use an iPad to make a short, animated film.
Please note: Children under eleven must be under the direct supervision of a responsible caregiver (at least 16 years of age) at all times while on Library premises, pursuant to the Library’s Policy on Unattended Children. Please visit our list of policies here.
