Our team is pleased to offer Open Hours this summer in the Children’s Makerspace. Each week, the Children’s Makerspace will host a different theme for patrons to explore – no registration required, just stop by!

Tuesday through Friday 10am to 5pm
Saturday, ALL DAY

June 2-6 Mixed Media Art Collage & Construction
Using mixed media, kids will have the opportunity to create their own sculptural works of art. Decoupage, cardboard, recycled bottles, paint, wire, and more will be used in this art and design challenge!

June 9-13 Summer STEM Challenges
Using what they know about science and engineering, kids will design and build amusement park rides using limited materials such as paper, pipe cleaners, and disposable cups.

June 16-20 Indi Robot Exploration
Code our Indi Robot cars with colored tiles. Solve puzzles and mazes and create your own tracks for Indi to drive!

June 23-27 Towers and Tall Structures
In this engineering challenge, kids will use various materials to build the tallest tower they can. Considering the properties of various materials, children will modify their designs to be both strong and tall.

June 30 - July 2 Recycled inventions
Celebrate the arrival of historic Hagley Museum patents in the Art Gallery with a week of creative invention! On your way to the Children’s Makerspace, stop by the art gallery to explore real patents from groundbreaking inventors and discover how ideas become reality. Inspired by these innovators, kids will use a variety of recycled materials to design and build their very own inventions. Whether practical or delightfully silly, young makers will step into the shoes of inventors, brainstorming ideas, experimenting with materials, troubleshooting challenges, and bringing their creations to life. Come celebrate invention, creativity, and the journey from imagination to innovation!
