Silent Book Group at Kennett Library In-Person

Join us for a quiet, cozy hour of reading in the Bayard Taylor Room. Silent Book Club is exactly what it sounds like: readers gathering together to read—silently—side by side.

How it works
There are no assigned reading and no prep required. Bring whatever you’re currently reading (or want to start): a novel, audiobook with headphones, e-book, comic, textbook—BYOBook. We’ll gather, get settled, and enjoy an hour of uninterrupted silent reading in a comfortable shared space. Before or after reading, you’re welcome to chat about what you’re reading—or simply enjoy the quiet and head out.

Why Silent Book Club?
Reading is often a solitary activity but doing it together builds connection without pressure. Silent Book Club is for people who love books, crave focus, and appreciate calm, phone-down time in community. There’s no discussion required, no expectations, and no need to be “caught up.”

All adult readers are welcome. Come for the quiet, stay for the company—or just the reading.
