Picture It! Book Club

Picture It! Book Club In-Person

The Picture It book club is a book club for adults who love picture books!  Each month we look at picture books that explore a different topic. This month we will be celebrating our nation's national pastime of baseball!  With the World Series one week away, what better time to take a look back at some amazing baseball heroes and stories true and false that really bring us into the game.

We'll start with The William Hoy Story: how a deaf baseball player changed the game, by Nancy Churnin. Then take a special look at Jackie Robinson through the eyes of a young boy whose father who is deaf has found a strong affinity to the famous baseball player in Dad, Jackie and Me, by Myron Uhlberg.  We will also take a look at some books that feature famous players from Philadelphia including Edith Houghton, a female baseball phenomenon who joined the professional women's team the Bobbies at the age of 10, and Max Patkin, a professional baseball player turned baseball clown.

We meet during the lunch hour, so feel free to bring along your lunch as you enjoy the books and camaraderie.  Registration is strongly encouraged.
