PreK PlayKrew: Games and Puzzles

PreK PlayKrew: Games and Puzzles In-Person

The PreK PlayKrew meetups are anchored to the idea of whole child learning by creating a space that nurtures social emotional development, language skills and cognitive growth, all of which contribute to Kindergarten readiness.

Dramatic play days provide each child with a focal point for their imagination and creativity. While we provide the space, the experience itself is child-led, with participants collaborating to experience real world (and some out of this world!) adventures together. Language skills are strengthened naturally through environmental print samples, and social skills are gained through participation, as well as observation of peer play. Space is limited; please register everyone in your party, adults and children.

Game and Puzzle days promote teamwork, sharing, and even the ability to take turns. These days help each child progress in their self-regulation development through game play and their cognitive problem solving and spacial reasoning skills through puzzling and following directions. We learn that the goal is not to beat others or always be first, but instead to support each other in reaching goals together and build each other up. Space is limited; please register everyone in your party, adults and children.

Building Play days are all about child initiated discovery and exploration. We will explore cause and effect and learn how to  interact with peers when working with shared materials. Participants will collaborate on constructing creative structures and creatures. Space is lmited; please register everyone in your party, adults and children.

Sensory play days center on assisting each child with exploring and interacting with the world that surrounds them. Changing themes allow for vocabulary and linguistic development, while a variety of tactile mediums encourage the development of motor skills. Each sensory play day will include activities that engage and stimulate touch, sight, hearing, and smell and help build new connections in the brain. Sensory Play employs small toys and other materials appropropriate for ages 3+ only. Space is limited; please register everyone in your party, adults and children.
