The Tuesday Shift: Problem Solving Puzzlers

The Tuesday Shift: Problem Solving Puzzlers In-Person

The Tuesday Shift for ages 11-15 is a place to explore your growing interests. Whether you enjoy solving mysteries, tinkering with mechanics and robotics, exploring different worlds while playing games, or creating your own worlds in your writing, there is a Tuesday Shift for you!

The Tuesday Shift program is about figuring out what participants really enjoy and excel at. It is also all about fostering social and emotional well-being in every participant. In every iteration, this program strives to empower each participant through cognitive challenges, positive social interaction, and active learning. Each meetup is planned with micro learning lessons, while still allowing for student choice to drive the direction of the day’s activity in a fun, low pressure environment.

Mechanical Minds: We will be creating, building, and tinkering with hands on project areas including, but not Iimited to: robotics, vehicles, thermodynamics, energy conversion, and hydraulics

Problem Solving Puzzlers: Participants will engage In “escape room” type challenges, working through word, math, logic, jigsaw and riddle puzzles as Individuals and as a group.

Writers Workshop: This Is the place to share your stories, and get new Ideas! Each Writers Workshop “shift” will Include a creative writing challenge activity that participants can work on as Individuals or as a group. Participants are also encouraged to bring their current writings if they would like to share or if they would like help getting through a “block”.

Participants may bring their own supplies, but paper and writing utensils will be supplied as well.

Table Gamers: Participants will have the opportunity to learn a new game each month that is available to check out of the Atglen Public Library “Library of Things”. Participants are also welcome to bring their own favorite games to share and play. As the “shift” takes shape, we will hone in on the specific types of table games that participants enjoy the most.
