Artist's Statement: Since the frigid first nights of 2024, I've begun the journey of teaching myself the art and science of astrophotography. Starting with nothing but a simple "Go-To" Dobsonian telescope and my phone's camera, I was able to capture images of the intensely bright Orion Nebula. Once I had whet my appetite for data and synthesized a basic workflow, I realized I needed to invest in dedicated hardware to make the most of my time under the cosmos. By the end of June, I had developed an automated process to control the telescope with my laptop and cooled astronomy camera. Since then, I've continued to acquire necessary equipment, and refined my skills and talent for this amazing hobby. Nothing I've done has ever connected me to nature and to my inner self in quite the same way as astronomy, and I hope to share that experience with my community whenever and however I can.
