Genealogy Research: Chester County Library and Chester County Archives In-Person
Are you interested in learning the basics of genealogy research? Are you particularly interested in researching ancestors in Chester County? Join the Chester County Library in partnership with the Chester County Archives to learn how!
- Genealogy researcher Mike Sheldon will demonstrate introductory methods used to conduct genealogy research and build a family tree.
- Information Literacy Librarian Rebecca Manuel will provide a short overview of the library's genealogy databases: Ancestry Library Edition, HeritageQuest, and MyHeritage Library Edition. (Ancestry Library Edition can only be accessed inside the library while HeritageQuest and MyHeritage can be used at home.)
- Archivist Stacy Hutcheson from the Chester County Archives will discuss how to effectively use the Archives' historic county records in your genealogical research and address some of the most frequently asked questions such as “My ancestors were from Chester County; what records do you have?”, “Do you have birth records?”, “When did my ancestors get married?”, “My ancestor was listed as an inmate on their taxes; what crime did he commit?”, and “What are poor school children records?”
