AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program In-Person
AARP Volunteers will be providing free tax preparation and electronic filing services for federal and state returns at the Hankin Branch Library again this year. The volunteers have received extensive training and have successfully passed an IRS certification examination. With your help, they will complete your taxes and file them. Taxpayers with “complex” returns may be advised to seek professional tax assistance. Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time and bring the following documents with you:
· Photo Identification (typically a driver’s license) for the primary taxpayer (and spouse if
filing jointly)
. Proof of Social Security Number for all individuals (including dependents if any) included in
the tax return. (“Proof” consists of either SS Card, Form SSA-1099, or a letter from the
Social Security Administration)
. Documents/forms supporting your 2024 income, tax deductions and credits, which may
Include:
-Forms W-2
-Forms 1099 (including SSA-1099 /1099R /1099INT /1099DIV /1099B)
- HSA account info, post-secondary education expenses
- Statements (brokerage) for sale of stocks, bonds, mutual funds or sale of home.
. Bringing last year’s tax return may also be helpful and expedite the process.
If after scheduling an appointment, you find that you can not keep that appointment, please notify the library.
