Theater, Body, and Movement - in partnership with The Garage

Theater, Body, and Movement - in partnership with The Garage In-Person

Join Kennett Library and The Garage for Theater, Body, and Movement. These sessions aim to help students practice theater through various activities, including theatrical games, body movement exercises, character creation, and eventually a stage performance!

We highly encourage students to attend all sessions to experience the program's full development!

This program is ideal for ages 10-18

Throughout history, theater has been seen as a representation of certain events in our society; that is, the personification, expansion, and sometimes exaggeration of specific characteristics or moments in history to help everyone understand them in a clear and artistic way. Theater also allows us, at certain places and times, to step away from our daily routines and become something we never imagined or have always wanted to be. It opens a door to extroversion, overcoming fears, and bringing out the best in each person. Additionally, theater can strengthen our self-esteem and confidence.

The methodology of the theater classes will include:

Exploring my environment through play

Theatrical games and theater for play

Body movement, recognizing the stage space

Introduction to creating a theatrical work

Dance, movement, space, and rhythm

Please note: Children under eleven must be under the direct supervision of a responsible caregiver (at least 16 years of age) at all times while on Library premises, pursuant to the Library’s Policy on Unattended Children.
