PA-MEDI Medicare Counseling In-Person
Free, one-on-one Medicare counseling is available through the Pennsylvania Medicare Education and Decision Insight (PA MEDI) program. This service is provided free through state certified counselors and is completely confidential. Medicare and its options can be daunting to those entering the program and the counselors offer insight into Medicare parts A, B, C, D, as well as Supplements (Medigaps). The sessions are tailored to the individual and typically address enrollment timelines, potential penalties, the differences between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans, Medigaps and their costs, the use of the Medicare Plan Finder, and Prescription Drug Plans. Cost Savings Programs and eligibility are also discussed.
For those already on Medicare, your current plans can be reviewed, and help in applying for assistance for low income individuals is also available.
If you are scheduling an appointment, please bring your Medicare card (if you have one) and any other medical or prescription drug cards, as well as a list of your drugs, dosages, and frequency.
The objective of these appointments is to give you a detailed understanding of your Medicare options, a clear path on how to proceed with your Medicare decisions, and a precise cost of your Medicare coverages.
