Jigsaw Puzzle Contest

Jigsaw Puzzle Contest In-Person

Do you love jigsaw puzzles? Come put your skills to the test at our Jigsaw Puzzle Contest! This mini library fundraiser will help support library programs and services while also offering local puzzlers a fun opportunity to puzzle at top speed! To keep the competition fair, all teams will be completing an identical 500-piece puzzle.

This event is for competitors age 16 and up only. You can register as a team or as an individual wildcard puzzler.

  • Team registration is $40 for your table of up to 4 puzzlers.
  • Wildcard registration is $10 for one puzzler. We will group wildcards into teams of up to 4 puzzlers. Wildcards will not be placed amongst a registered team.

All teams and wildcard puzzlers must register in advance.

Prizes

Our fastest three teams will win a prize! Teams will select from the prize options in order of fastest to slowest finish time. All teams will get to keep the competition puzzle.

Bonus Actions

To spice up the evening (and help the library), teams can purchase a bonus action at the event. Bring cash to participate in bonus actions.

  • For $5, a team can purchase a sheet of poster board to help with sorting
  • For $5, a team can purchase an advance look at the puzzle image

Rules

  • Puzzling will begin at 7:15 and end at 8:45.
  • If fewer than three teams have completed the puzzle by 8:45 PM, winners will be determined by the amount complete. Only groupings of three or more pieces count as complete areas. Single pieces and pairs are not counted towards completion.
  • No team will be able to view the puzzle in advance without a bonus action.
  • Teams cannot interfere with other teams’ puzzles or conversations.
  • Teams may be accompanied by spectators who are not competing. Spectators will not be able to sit with or talk with any teams during competition. Spectators will have a spectator sticker to wear, and any spectator talking with a team or interacting with a team’s puzzle during competition time will disqualify that team.
  • Teams cannot bring anything to the surface of the puzzle table - no sorting devices or other special aids allowed without a bonus action. Teams are limited to their table top as their work space.
  • Competitors are welcome to talk to their teammates or wear headphones to listen to music, but music cannot be audible to others, and talking should not be distracting or overly loud.
  • Competitors may leave their tables to use the rest room, get snacks, etc. They may not interfere with other teams while doing so, nor can they confer with spectators. The clock will not stop while one or more team members are away from the table.

Snacks

Water bottles and a light snack is included with registration.
