This Troubled Ground by Les Carroll is an Air Force officer’s search for meaning from his two deployments to Afghanistan and his service at the Air Force Mortuary at Dover Air Force Base. His world intersects twice with a mother’s desperate quest to find hope after her young son is killed serving with the US Marines in Afghanistan.

Les Carroll served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard. He has the distinction of being the only military member to serve as the press desk chief at HQ ISAF in Kabul and for the Air Force Mortuary at Dover AFB. This Troubled Ground is a novel based on true events from his Dover and Afghanistan deployments.
