Virtual: Author Talk "Bifurcation Events" by Caroline Ailanthus Online
Meet Caroline Ailanthus, author of “Ecological Memories” and it’s sequel, “Bifurcation Events”.
There are moments that divide life into before and after. Death can do it. Any disaster can. So can miracles. And so can love.
Andy, a scientist, calls these moments bifurcation events, a technical term that may or may not apply literally. He's seen his share, most dramatically in the complete collapse of the civilization of his youth--and the beginnings of another. His story, or part of it, was told in the novel, Ecological Memory. Bifurcation Events tells the related stories of some of his family and friends.
In the summer of 2019, author Caroline Ailanthus published a novel about a scientist and his apprentice in the aftermath of a catastrophic pandemic. Less than six months later, life began to imitate art. Join Caroline for a discussion of her novel, Ecological Memory, and discover about the creation of a fictional pandemic and explore the potential of ecology as a source of perspective and hope in the face of loss. Listen to a few some passages of the book and get a taste of the story.
