Inspired by the Longwood Gardens Community Read of 2024 (The Last Garden in England and The Secret Garden) with its focus on gardens as a source of human healing, Henrietta Hankin Library is excited add to our "Sow and Tell Week" line-up, with a presentation by Penn State Extension, Chester County Master Gardeners, Cassandra Hogue and Dennis Inverso.

Ornamental grasses can be a valuable addition to your landscape, providing vertical interest, unusual colors, and 4 seasons benefits.  In this workshop, you will learn about different varieties of grasses, best planting sites by grass type, care and maintenance, and considerations of invasive species.

About the presenters: 

Dennis Inverso has been a Chester County Master Gardener for 7 years. Dennis retired from DuPont in 2016 and been focusing much of his free time in the area of horticulture including Longwood Gardeners in the Idea Garden, Production Greenhouses and Orchid Display.  Dennis also volunteers at the Phila Flower Show and PA Farm show.  Two of his current MG projects is a mentor for the new MG training class and building a greenhouse at the Chadds Ford Elementary School.  Cassandra Hogue has been a Master Gardener since 2016, she enjoys answering and researching questions on the Master Gardener Hotline as well as offering workshops and  engaging with the community .  Her garden interests are shade and container gardens.  
Master Gardener volunteers support Penn State Extension's educational programs in consumer horticulture. They develop their horticultural expertise through participation in educational training classes conducted by Penn State University faculty and Extension staff.
 

A limited number of family passes will be raffles at this event and light refreshments will be provided.  Registration is required.  Henrietta Hankin Branch Library supports PA Forward Civic and Social Literacy.
