KURC Presents: How the United Daughters of the Confederacy Undermined the Abolitionist Narrative and American Democracy In-Person
Join Kennett Underground Railroad Center's Dr. tonya thames-taylor (dr. t3), a civic and social historian, West Chester University professor, and Human Rights Activist.
The United Daughters of the Confederacy used public landscapes, school curriculum, and fundraising to create an American History that dismissed abolitionists as misguided liberals who threatened America. This talk discusses their impact and how local historical associations are reclaiming a more accurate historical narrative.
