Genealogy Research: Chester County Library and Chester County Archives In-Person
Learn how to use Ancestry - Library Edition and other databases for family research. Get genealogy searching tips, research guidance, and more. Genealogy researcher Mike Sheldon will demonstrate introductory methods used to research a family tree, using Ancestry - Library Edition and FamilySearch.org. Reference Librarian Jamie Claxton will provide a short overview of Ancestry - Library Edition and HeritageQuest. Ancestry- Library Edition can only be accessed inside the library, while HeritageQuest can be used at home.
Learn about the genealogical information that can be found in the historic county records at the Chester County Archives. Assistant Archivist Stacy Hutcheson will discuss how to effectively use county government records in your genealogical research and address some of the most frequently asked questions such as “My ancestors were from Chester County, what records do you have?”, “Do you have birth records?”, “When did my ancestors get married?”, “My ancestor was listed as an inmate in the taxes, what crime did he commit?”, and “What are poor school children records?”.
