Local Author Talk: Dave Brown: "Shadows of Glory: Memorable and Offbeat World Series Stories" In-Person / Online
Dave Brown co-authored his book with a fraternity brother and long-time friend from Gettysburg College, Jeff Rodimer. Dave will discuss the book, which contains 18 lesser known but fascinating stories about the World Series, ranging from heartwarming and heartbreaking to amusing and outrageous. The stories span from 1918 -- when World War I, the Spanish flu, and Babe Ruth intersected -- to 2016, when the Chicago Cubs broke a century-long drought to capture the Fall Classic. The 2009 Series between the Phillies and Yankees is featured in the book. Dave will invite audience members to share their experiences attending World Series games and watching the World Series over the years.
Dave Brown lives in Chester Springs. This is his seventh book; five have been sports-related. Baseball has always been his favorite sport. His last sports book was Drinking Coffee with a Fork: The Story of Steve Carlton and the '72 Phillies, which he co-authored with former TV sportscaster Steve Bucci.
Books will be available for discounted purchase and signing at the event.
This event is free and open to the public. The program will also be livestreamed on Zoom for those unable to attend in person. Registration is required.
