Local Author Interview: Kathleen McKee: "Below the Landscape"

Local Author Interview: Kathleen McKee: "Below the Landscape" Online

Join us as Mark Pinto, the Library's Adult Services Director, engages local author Kathleen McKee in conversation about the latest novel in her Aspen Notch Mystery series, Below the Landscape.

A tragic accident, an unknown artist, and a discovery below the landscape. Can Sue connect the random details before her granddaughter becomes another victim?

Sue Jaworski comforts garden club member, Ruth, after her nephew dies in a tragic accident that seriously injures four other high school band members. While paying her respects, Sue notices oil paintings by the same person as those she purchases at Trinkets and Treasures, only to learn that Ruth’s fiancé, missing for 40 years, is the artist.

The closed case catches Sue’s attention, especially after granddaughter, Jessica, shows Sue the actual location of the beautiful landscapes. To her dismay, Sue discovers that the area lies above an abandoned coal mine, leaving local residents at risk from its residual effects.

As she investigates, with the support of her police chief husband, Alan, Sue uncovers details of collusion years ago between a member of town council who changed the town bylaws and the owner of the mining company, all leading back to Ruth. In the meantime, Jessica goes missing.

If you enjoy a cozy mystery, small town charm, a touch of romance, and a woman sleuth who has an uncanny ability to make connections, you’ll love Kathleen McKee’s fourth book of the Aspen Notch Mystery Series. Join Sue for her latest adventure in Below the Landscape.

Author's bio:

Kathleen McKee enjoys crafting stories that are uplifting and moving. Regardless of genre, she likes to include a touch of romance, mystery, and history, with narratives that bring the characters to life.

Kathleen’s heart-warming stories and their settings are often inspired by experiences of people she has met or places she has lived. Although Aspen Notch is a fictional town in northeast PA, it is based on her memories of the locale when she taught in Scranton, PA. The inspiration for Below the Landscape came from living on the former site of a coal breaker near the Lackawanna River within sight of several old mine entrances, now inhabited by bats that also took up residence in her attic.

Kathleen currently lives in southeast PA with her springer spaniel, Maggie. You’ll find her there, working on her next novel. Visit her website at: https://kathleen-mckee.com/
