Ancient Egyptian Architecture In-Person / Online
Ancient Egyptian architecture is not one style, but a set of styles differing over time but with some commonalities. In this lecture you will learn about the different types of architectural elements, how some of them evolved through time, their symbolic meanings, and functions. The lecture will take you on a journey into ancient Egyptian architecture. Replicas will also be displayed to see and touch.
Sherin Motawea is originally from Egypt. She studied Egyptology. In 1998, Sherin obtained her first Master of Arts in Museum and Heritage Studies from the University College, London, U.K. She then became the Head of the Egyptian Museums Department at the Supreme Council of Antiquities under the supervision of the renowned Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass. She has conducted a number of educational programs for all ages in Egyptian museums.
This event is free and open to the public. The program will also be livestreamed on Zoom for those unable to attend in person. Registration is required.
