Longwood Gardens Community Read Book Discussion & Food Tasting In-Person
Get reading as Phoenixville Public Library joins with other local libraries and community partners for the annual Community Read sponsored by Longwood Gardens. Join us as we celebrate the tenth year of the Community Read with a look at how food is a connector of people—especially for special moments—and how food connects to the world of plants and gardening. You are invited to read Black Food, an exuberant celebration of foodways and culture by celebrated chef and writer Bryant Terry. Copies of the book are available now at Phoenixville Library and throughout the Chester County Library System.
Then join us for a food tasting and discussion of the book. Each attendee to the discussion must bring a dish from a recipe in the book or that is inspired by the book. No alcoholic beverages, please.
If the dish is served hot, you must provide your own means of keeping the food warm. A microwave and electric outlets are available. You may bring your own non-alcoholic beverage. Bottled water, napkins, utensils and paper plates will be provided.
Each attendee will be eligible for a free drawing for a family pass to Longwood Gardens, to be raffled off at the end of the discussion.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required. When registering, please indicate the dish you will be bringing.
Planned dishes so far are:
sweet potato snack
fennel and citrus salad
mango avocado salad
